Aviation Minister denies Demuren's suspension

AVIATION-MINISTER-3The minister of Aviation; Stella Oduah denied knowledge of the suspension of former Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority Director General, Dr Harold Demuren, at the ongoing public hearing into the DANA Air plane crash today.
Senate committee chairman on Aviation Hope Uzodinma, had requested for comments by the NCAA and as such asked the Honourable minister who was presently in charge of the NCAA. A rather confused Aviation minister had to pause for about a minute before answering that "Demuren remains the NCAA D.G", to the amusement of all present.
When prodded further by committee members,
the Aviation minster admitted that she had no knowledge of the suspension of the NCAA D.G in the wake of the DANA Air crash as she had not been served any official document to that effect.
Meanwhile some the committee members insisted that Harold Demuren (who was also present), could not speak for the NCAA, as they had to respect the National Assembly's resolution as regards the suspension of the NCAA D.G.
After a two minute back door recess of the committee members and the Aviation minister, committee chairman Hope Uzodinma announced that in the event of the generating confusion, Harold Demuren remains the D.G, and should speak for the NCAA as according to him, "Demuren remains the only top official of the NCAA who can speak for the NCAA in the light of the ongoing public hearing."
